Frequently Asked Questions

What are the requirements?

Bordetella, Rabies, DHPP, and a Negative Fecal are required. Vaccinations unless already current, are recommended to be given no later than 7-10 days prior to a visit. Dogs are not required to be spayed or neutered. Special accommodations will be made.

Are there any breed or age restrictions?

No. Our state-of-the-art facility has been built from the ground up with every circumstance in mind. We tailor towards the needs of each individual dog. This includes senior pets who require extra care, behavioral issues where a little more patience is needed, and young puppies that may have more energy than we do! Ugly dog is a home away from home for everyone.

Do you have a medication policy?

Any medications (capsules, injections, powders, etc.) can be administered with no additional charge. Please make our staff aware of any medications prior to a reservation. It is equally important to provide detailed written instructions.

What steps do you take to protect the health of my dog?

Please keep in mind that we always act in the best interest of your dog and proper veterinary care is at our fingertips. Commercial HEPA units, similar to what you may see in a hospital, have been installed to exchange and bring fresh air through the facility every 15 minutes. This process attacks airborne spores and viruses which prevents against illnesses such as the common case of kennel cough.

What should I bring for my dog when dropping off?

Current vaccination records as listed above along with dog food and medications. We provide everything else!

What does a typical day at Ugly Dog look like?

You’ve guessed correctly…BUSY! Although we have active days here at Ugly Dog, individual suites are prepped with clean cots and blankets for rest. Every pet that walks through our doors has a space labeled just for them, daycare guests included. We feel it is important to closely monitor your dog at play to make sure they do not overexert themselves and have the opportunity for a little “me time” if needed.

How does temperament testing work?

Essentially, our professionals assess your dog’s comfort level in a controlled environment. Trusted therapy dogs who are owned by staff and trained through the Wing & Shot portion of our business, play an important role in this process. These dogs’ temperaments are proven and will help place your dog where he or she needs to be.

What happens if there is an incident with my dog in an open play group setting?

Although we implement temperament testing and have supervised play groups, it is probable that not everyone is going to get along. What sets us apart from other daycare facilities is the fact that trainers are on site to identify and curve negative behavior. However, if an incident does occur, you will be notified via phone and/or email.

How do I receive updates on my dog while he or she is in your care?

Make sure to follow our social media pages and/or inquire about our report cards for overnight boarding reservations. We are always a phone call away!
